This month’s Spotlight is on one of our newest dealers, Vinyl Groove Audio.
The showroom is based in a newly-converted former dairy at Clifton Fields, three miles west of Preston City Centre. It is a great looking space, smartly decorated and with stunning artwork from Pete McKee and Ben Riley (who creates unique pictures from broken records and vinyl dust!)
There’s free on-site parking and you are guaranteed a great cup of coffee too via sister company, Vinyl Groove Café.
Although VGA only opened late last year, owner Ian has been in the audio industry for over thirty years and his relationship with Neat goes back to 1993 when he was demonstrating the classic original Petite.
As the name suggests, vinyl replay forms a significant part of the business and Ian sells a good selection of vinyl albums through his website (www.vinylgroovemusic.co.uk). He also offers a record cleaning service using the excellent Okki Nokki machine.
Even though VGA is very passionate about vinyl replay, they offer some superb digital streaming solutions too from Innuos, Rega, Naim, Chord Electronics and Sonos (including the Dolby Atmos ARC soundbar for your TV).
For his suggested system, Ian has chosen our latest model, the Orkestra and he has partnered the speakers with:
Rega Planar 10 / Apheta 3 (Turntable)
Rega Aria Mk 3 (Phono Stage)
Innuos Zen Mini Mk 3 + LSPU (Music server + Roon Core)
Rega Saturn-R CD/DAC (Roon Endpoint)
Rega Aethos (Integrated Amplifier)
Chord Co (Cables)
Ian also regularly pairs Neat speakers with Naim Uniti Atom or Nova with superb results.
Vinyl Groove Audio’s suggested demonstration tracks:
Robbie Robertson – Soap Box Preacher (taken from Storyville 1991)
Miles Davis – Freddie Freeloader (taken from 1959 A Kind Of Blue – 1959)
